80 days around the world

Yes its true! weve been away for over 80 days now, were almost half way through our trip. We are currently in Chiang Mai, a city north of Bangkok. Its our first day but there seems to be so much to do here. im hoping to do a batik course and jared is going to do a thai cookery course!

After our last entry we went to Koh Pha Ngan where we spent nearly a week. We stayed in the cutest beach bungalow on a private beach and in general had a lot of fun. We also went to the full moon party which was crazy! unfortunately jared got a black eye from a bar man because he chose to go somewhere cheaper to buy our drinks! (turns out its a mafia run place so they can do what they like).

we also had a bit of a skid on our moped. The koh Pha Ngan tatoo is famous here, most people have a scratch or a bandage. Unfortunately we dont really have a great story to tell, we just skidded but Jared was going so slowly (sometimes he even made me walk!) that it really wasnt that bad, ive got a few bruises and jared grazed his knee and cut his toe. The worst injury was to our pride! After that we headed up to bangkok on the night train and had to kill a day there before heading to chiang mai on the night bus! so a lot of travelling at the moment, we are here for 4 nights then go to bangkok to meet rach brown and my dad which will be fun.

In response to my mums comment about scuba diving, if im aqua marina does that make jared captain scarlet?

happy easter to all!!

Greetings to the 80 day wonders!

I'm just back from Mutende. Our trip went really well - it was fantastic to see the children at the village and to meet the new ones. There are 43 there now with another two on the way any day. They're hoping to build another 7 houses in time so they'll have around 140 children there then!

We had a great welcome, especially from those who remembered us - Clifford, Cindy, Francis, Wisdom, Most, Billy, David, Gracie, Joseph etc.

We were 8 on the team - Debs, Lannie, Sam, Pete and Josh, Phil and Isaac and me. We were upgraded on the way over and had access to the executive lounge at Heathrow which made the 3 hour delay actually quite enjoyable!

We stayed in houses in 6th and 9th Street this time so compared to the previous visit it was fairly plush. Everyone was healthy and mossie bites were most people's biggest concern. Apart from Deb who was knocked out by a football as she crossed the field. She recovered well and is now fine but she did worry us for a while!

The community cafe is on at the moment and is going well. The sun has been shining here for some time and it's been a glorious Easter weekend.

We're taking 10 of the young people from Wired down to Llanmadoc tomorrow evening to visit Tribe who are having a camp there. They've invited lots of youth groups so we're taking part as well! We've also booked a weekend at the Long Barn for May.

Glad you are having a good time.

Cheers

'Ah, but you should see the other guy' is what you should say about Jared's black eye!

Poor thing. And poor Rachel still being attacked by Biting things.

Still it all sounds fantastic. Hard to believe you've been gone so long; on the downward slope now.

Rach B has been writing a lot about food in her blog - hope you're ready to feed hr when you meet up!

Oh, and belated happy Easter! Do you get Easter eggs in Bangkok?

I hope you have enjoyed meeting up with Dad and enjoyed your meal. We are taking mum to Weymouth for the week next week but its not quite the same!!
Went to my awards dinner last week but had a little bit of a nightmare. 10 mins before the drinks reception Tim burnt an iron shaped hole through my dresss. I didn't have anything else with me to wear so had to ring around rooms in the hotel that had people attending the same dinner trying to scrounge an outfit. Finally managed to find someone willing to lend me something although it didn't quite fit but beggars can't be choosers. Worst thing is dress wasn't mine,it was borrowed from the neighbour!! Fortunately, she has been ok. Bit worried about asking her to babysit again though in case she tries to take revenge!! Harry misses you. I'm not sure how he is going to cope without seeing his Grandad for 5 weeks. He is growing up really quickly and is really funny. He comes out with some really strange things. He's suddenly decided that he is scared of everything. Today he was scared of trains!!Will try and email some photos.Miss you loads P,T & Hxxx
